A few helpful hints to prolong the life of your system

/Change your air filter every 30 days. some filters say you can change it less often but in our climate a disposable air filter usually lasts 30 days. When you pay your light bill also change your filter.

/A condensing unit (outside unit) should be washed at least once a month. This will prevent dirt or even salt air from harming your unit. Salt air will corrode the fins on a condenser and dirty will cause your unit to run at higher pressures. This can lead to your unit getting a Freon leak and costing you more on your light bill.

/Pour bleach down your condensate lines every thirty days. This will prevent the build up of algae and save you a costly repair bill when that water overflows onto your ceiling.

/have your system checked by a professional every year. Some issues can be caught early enough to prevent major problems late. Also some maintenance issues must be taken care of by a professional.
